To create a sense of community within the overall development including 14 different fully furnished types for a total of 931 units centered around modern, urban living. We were able to influence some architectural structural decisions, helping to maximise space within the already compact apartments.
Space was the key and we brought in secret rooms, moving panels and added extra storage wherever possible. The bathrooms featured sunken baths, something rarely found in a small home.
Striking a balance between the physical requirements of compact living and spatial aesthetics was the most important challenge to us. Our aim was to increase visual space without compromising on either element.
We achieved this in Duo Centrix by integrating the dining into the kitchen island. Angles were softened by using curved elements, creating fluidity within the space. And the positioning and form of open shelves were explored to amplify the sense of space.
The material selection was determined by those that lightened the overall space and provided a sense of luxury. Our choices were limewashed timber veneer and white volkas marble with dark timber to add depth.
A play on contrasts, soft and hard, warm and cold, dark and light, followed by added texture gave the finishing touches to a harmonious home.
