As the area was predominantly occupied by Chinese trading, design notes taken from the Chinoiserie period are a fitting choice for The Urbanist. These are reflected through cabinetry details and clean lines, inspired by old traditions.
The design team’s clean approach contributed to achieving a minimal feel with fine details. Bold lines frame key areas as a form of zoning, eliminating the need of doors. The entire layout is kept open with separate functions isolated to their own areas. Face brick is evident throughout, echoing the area’s heritage.
The angular layout was a catalyst for unique design solutions. As sunlight streams through the tall windows, a soft evening glow lights up the warm palette with its gold accents.
